This listing is for an original vintage 1959 Elden Benge Resno-Tempered Bell Trumpet made in his garage at 1122 W Burbank BLVD in Burbank, California. This trumpet comes in its original box with its original mouthpiece. This trumpet was made by Elden in his garage when he was only making a couple of hundred a year. From this time, it is told that he even remembers how his trumpets sounded by their serial number. This rare instrument was originally purchased in 1959, and comes with a carrying case and horn mutes. The trumpet has the serial number 4215, marked on one side of the bore and 'MLP' on the the other side, just below the second key. It features a resno-tempered bell, with the makers mark engraved on the top side. The mouthpiece is marked 'Benge 7C'. The instrument is in excellent physical condition, with minor cosmetic wear. It has not been played recently and may require professional servicing. Please see the detailed photos below and let us know if you have any questions.
During the 1950s, Elden Benge had retired as an orchestra musician and moved out west to Burbank California from Chicago, where he continued his still early practice of custom making trumpets right out of his own garage. During this time he only produced about five trumpets a week, or about 225 a year, making these professional models the rare and desirable pieces they are today.
