This listing is for an original advance press relaese from Northeast Airlines introducing the Fairchild Hiller FH-227 double turboprop Yellowbird airplane for service from Boston's Logan Airport to the Barre/Monteplier Airport in Vermont. This amazing collection is well preserved and in wonderful condition. It includes a business card for Ivan Delock, a photo of F.C. Wiser, the President of Northeast Airlines, 4 photos of the plane, Fisheye Cockpit photo, In flight photo, Elegant Interior with stewardess, and a baggage handler showing off the waist-high laoding feature, an Interior plan diagram, and finally a advertisment taken out of a Vermont Newspaper. This collection was part of the Edward Knapp estate, who was the Commissioner of Aeronautics in Vermont and in 1970 the airport in Barre/Montpelier was renamed for him. It is now called the Edward F Knapp Airport to honor his service.
This press release is dated October 25, 1966, ironically, two years later to the exact day that they released these documents, on October 25th, 1968, this flight, NE946, was flying from Boston to Vermont with a stop in New Hampshire when crashed into a mountain where 32 people on board were killed, only 10 survived.
