This listing is for a great collection of 4 rare original Club 47 concert calendar posters. Club 47, located in Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts, was at the center of the 1960s folk/rock scene. The calendars date from 1967-1968 and include appearances by such greats as Arlo Guthrie, Doc Watson, Tom Rush, Richie Havens, Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal, John Hammond and many more. The April 1968 calendar has a message on the right side about the club's closing that month due to high debt. Fortunately the club managed to raise some money and reopen soon thereafter. Two of these are mailers that were sent to people on the Club 47 mailing list and the other two are one sided flyers that were meant to be put up on walls or bulletin boards. They are in very good overall condition with some minor creasing, discoloration and edge tears. Please see the full set of photos below. We have no reserve price, so don't miss your chance to win!

In the 1960s, the club played a role in the rise of folk-rock music, when it began to book folk/rock bands whose music was unrelated to traditional folk, such as the Lovin' Spoonful. The club's importance to the 1960s Cambridge folk scene is documented extensively in Von Schmidt's Baby, Let Me Follow You Down: The Illustrated Story of the Cambridge Folk Years. Scott Alarik described Club 47 as being "the hangout of choice for the new folkies" during that time.
